Prototyping

Prototyping is an essential stage of the design process, especially for applications where the general user interface should be carefully laid out to match the functions required of it whilst having minimal clutter and wasted UI on screen.

Paper prototyping

The first stage of the process wherein we established the general aesthetic and layout of our app was done with paper prototyping, with simple conceptual drawings reflecting our influences from other apps.

These pages, which were presented through PowerPoint in the general content update presentations, gave a rough insight into the ideas being developed that our app would involve and roughly how they might appear. Not all elements of this early version made it to the final prototype, it had heavier influence from Reddit and a different colour scheme to the finished version.

Wireframing

In the next stage, we built wireframes using Figma to give closer insight into how the final app could and should look in order to fulfil the functions laid out during the earlier stages of development.

This type of prototype is more high fidelity than the later working model and allows for a better idea of how an interface will appear on a device. This version still differed in many ways to the final version but did present ideas for the working prototype to elaborate on.
